Introduced at a time when the motorcycle industry found itself in the grip of a minor crisis, the Stornello 125 was designed with maximum cheapness of construction in mind: parallel overhead valves, wet sump, pressure die-cast crankcase, etc. Given the healthy sales, a new and more powerful engine with inclined valves was built and fitted to various racers: the Sport, the Scrambier, and the Regolanta'. At the end of 1967 the 160 version was introduced; in early 1970 the Stornello was given a 5-speed gearbox and new styling. It was produced from 1960 to 1975. |
